The decision to leave home is a significant one and often comes with new responsibilities. If you are going to be living away from home for the first time soon, in this article we will give you some advice on what to take with you on your journey towards independence.

It’s true that some of these suggestions may seem obvious, but it’s always a good idea to make a small list so you don’t forget objects such as towels, hangers, bin bags, a toothbrush and your important documents.

Remember, as a micampus resident you will be offered the best prices for supply packs for your bedroom, kitchen and bathroom, which means you can save some space in your luggage while also saving time and money.

If you forget to pack any of the objects we’ve mentioned, remember that wherever you’ve decided to live you’ll be able to buy essentials. Moreover, in micampus residences we offer our residents a 10% discount on storage trunks to enable you to store more if space becomes a problem.

If you have an idea of the amount of space you will have and how it is distributed, we also recommend that you think about how you can organize the items you bring with you to improve your stay. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with your residence if you have any questions about what it offers residents. This way you’ll be able to avoid bringing unnecessary items with you, making your journey easier and putting your mind at rest.

If this is your first time living away from home it’s likely that you may not be able to think of many things to take with you. This is why we recommend you ask your parents, friends or family members who live on their own for their ideas so your list of items is more comprehensive. The unforeseen can occur at any time and it’s a good idea to take things with you that can get you out of a tight spot.

Finally, we also recommend you make a note of objects you use at home every day over the course of one or two weeks, as all of us have important items we use often that may not appear on generic packing lists. These may be articles with sentimental value or which make you feel at home that you want to take with you to make you feel more comfortable in your new residence.

We hope this list helps you to remember to pack everything you need and makes the process of moving much easier and more pleasant.
